A deeply motivated coach, Barat credits soccer with taking him around the world and teaching him discipline, hard work, respect, and teamwork. He is committed to passing every one of those lessons on to the next generation of Alaska players. With over 24 years of youth soccer coaching experience, Johnny Turner is the architect of Alaska Rush's pre-competitive development program — a purposeful bridge between recreational play and competitive soccer. An enthusiastic and dedicated coach, Johnny came to Alaska Rush to build something he envisioned: a program where young players develop not just skills, but a genuine love for the game. Johnny holds degrees from multiple institutions including the University of Alaska Anchorage and brings a life of diverse experience — including five years living in the Republic of Korea — to his coaching philosophy. Brad Horton arrived in Alaska in 2012 and has spent more than a decade building competitive soccer in Anchorage and Wasilla. Over that time he has served as Executive Director, Director of Coaching, and Recreational Director across multiple youth soccer organizations — giving him a rare, end-to-end understanding of what it takes to build a great club. As a player, Brad competed in the inaugural season of the US Soccer Development Academy with the Chicago Fire Academy, played four years of NCAA D1 soccer at Northern Illinois University, and then two years with the Chicago Fire PDL — the reserve team for the Chicago Fire MLS squad. He is a 2009-2010 inductee of the Peter L. Johnson Sports Hall of Fame (Sycamore High School, Sycamore, IL). "Soccer has always been my life and I knew I would eventually make the move to coaching when I was finished playing. This game can teach us a lot about ourselves and others — a melting pot of cultures that create one beautiful game. I love to pass down the passion." Carly Williams is one of the most decorated players in Alaska soccer history and she is now paying it all forward right here at home. A South Anchorage High School standout, Carly earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors, was named a Parade All-American, and earned a spot on the NSCAA Youth All-American Team before competing with the U17 United States Youth National Team. She went on to play four years of NCAA soccer at the University of Southern California (USC), where she captained her senior class. After everything the game gave her, Carly came back to Alaska to give it back. "Soccer was my life growing up and opened the doors to so many experiences that most don't get — and I just want to pay it forward to the youth in Alaska. There's so much more to the game than what happens on the field, and I hope to pass that on to future generations." Carly grew up playing for the Goldstrikers — the club that became Alaska Rush — and coaches now with the same love for the game that launched her career.
