Recreational Soccer
At Alaska Rush, recreational soccer is where it all begins. Our recreational program is built for every child — no experience required, no tryouts, no pressure. Just soccer, friendships, and a whole lot of fun. Whether your player is stepping on a field for the very first time or building on a season or two of experience, our recreational program meets them exactly where they are.
We believe the love of the game starts here. And we take that seriously.

Who Is Recreational Soccer For?
Our recreational program is open to all players ages 2-12 in the Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley areas. Every session is designed around age-appropriate skill development, small-sided games, and a welcoming environment where every child belongs — regardless of experience, background, or ability.
If your child has never kicked a soccer ball, this is the perfect place to start. If your child has played before and just loves the game, this is still the perfect place to be.
Age Groups
Alaska Rush recreational soccer is organized into age-specific groups so every child trains and plays with peers at the same stage of development.
2-3 Year Olds First touches, first fun. Sessions at this age are all about movement, coordination, and falling in love with the ball. Short, energetic, and designed for little legs and big smiles.
4-5 Year Olds Players at this age begin learning the basics — dribbling, kicking, and playing in their first small-sided games. Every session balances skill-building with plenty of play.
6-7 Year Olds A step up in structure and skill. Players begin developing real technical foundations — passing, receiving, and learning to play as part of a team for the first time.
8-9 Year Olds Training becomes more focused and competitive in a healthy, age-appropriate way. Players build on their fundamentals and begin experiencing the tactical side of the game.
10-12 Year Olds Our oldest recreational group. Players at this level are refining their skills and discovering whether they want to keep playing recreationally or take the next step toward pre-competitive soccer.

What to Expect
Every recreational session at Alaska Rush is led by our licensed coaching staff and built around three things: skill development, teamwork, and fun. Here is what a typical session looks like:
Warmup & Ball Work Players start with individual ball work — getting comfortable with the ball at their feet through fun, age-appropriate exercises.

Skills Training Coaches introduce and reinforce fundamental skills like passing, receiving, dribbling, and finishing in a structured but playful environment.
Small-Sided Games Every session ends with games. Small-sided formats keep every player involved, active, and engaged from the first whistle to the last.
BASECAMP — Mat-Su Summit Rush
Mat-Su Summit Rush's recreational program, BASECAMP, is the entry point for players in the Mat-Su Valley. BASECAMP is built around the same philosophy as Alaska Rush recreational soccer — fun first, development always, and a welcoming environment for every child.
BASECAMP is open to all children ages 3-12 in the Mat-Su Valley and surrounding communities. No experience required.
